ORGAN THING: The Rainbow Embassy is Okuda San Miguel’s newest public art intervention and collaboration…

Organ Thing of The Day: A quick one today, we’ll get back to the long wordy features you never read properly on the other side of the holidays I expect (not that were taking any holidays, lots of paint to throw here), Today, for a Thing of The Day, we’ll hand over to Just Kids and this rather pleasing image of The Rainbow Embassy they just sent our way. “The Rainbow Embassy is Okuda San Miguel’s newest public art intervention and collaboration with global creative house Justkids, now permanently on view for all to enjoy within the residential heart of Downtown Fort Smith”, I’ve no real idea where Fort Smith is other than somewhere in Arkansas obviously (and we don’t think Tim has anything to do with it or that the fort as a little man in a house painted on the front), but that old building does look crisp painted like that and it does bring a smile and that is sometimes more than enough especially in the dark drizzle of London in December when we’re a couple of days away from the Winter Solstice and the shorting day of the year.

“For its fifth year in a row, Justkids continue to enrich the cityscape and community of the town through the Unexpected art event and invited for its 2019 edition famed multi-disciplinary Spanish artists Okuda to join the project and give new life to a neglected architectonic structure sitting adjacent to the Darby Junior High School, providing a new space for wonder, vibrancy and play to its young neighbours and tight-knit community”. do hope the Kids don’t mind us adding a “u” to “neighbors” in their statement there, these Americans do so like the mangle the Queen’s English don’t they. We like Just Kids, been a few years now since we last caught them doing anything here in London, that is a great photo of the building and for once it kind of feels kind of almost okay to make use of that way way too over-used word “vibrant”, that building is vibrantly pleasing, nice one Okuda, nice one JustKids, nice one Fort Smith (although it does conjure up images of a young Tim and Jim at play). nice one everyone we’ll be back with a big long wordy art show review or something like that in a moment, sometimes art needs to be simple.. .

“I’m incredibly excited and grateful to Justkids and The Unexpected for the opportunity to come back and complete The Rainbow Embassy, this project gave me the possibility to expand on my previous work, adding more architectonic dimension and completing my vision of mythical animals.”
