We are now very much within touching distance of those three English dates that the very special band called Spratleys are playing in London, Manchester and Leeds this September. And they are a very special band, the performances will once again celebrate the magical sparkle of their new album Bloom as well as the craft, sprit and beauty of their founder Tim Smith. You can’t really call this band formed by Cardiacs leader of the starry skies Tim Smith (alongside Jo Spratley) as his other band, Spratleys were and are far far more than that, Tim knew he was laying things down for the future, that he really wanted this band to fly, he would often quietly tell us how proud he was of his work with Jo and her band, this is where you find the real Cardiacs magic flowing, evolving, blooming, this is where you find it continuing beautifully and long may it do so…
Bloom began taking form in 2016 when Tim Smith’s Spratleys Japs took to the stage for the first time as a live band with Tim in attendance at almost all of their sold out shows. Spratleys last live performances were on those wonderfully emotional Sing To Tim tour dates of 2024 and these dates as well as the new album is where it all goes next. We make no apologies for telling you all this again before the weekend of dates, we need to see Spratleys fly….
And then there’s Panixphere, what more can we say about the goings off and things of the new Panixphere album and all that Cardiacs and Ring history that we didn’t already say, get in that pond, don’t come and tell us afterwards that you didn’t know about good cats and good dogs and that nobody told you it was going to happen again…
