There is new Deerhoof, there is a first taste of their new album, a twelve and a half minute fitst wonderful taste that of course sounds delightfully like Deerhoof yet sounds fresh and new and not really like Deerhoof. Here it is Sun Like It Hot…
“A child looks for a mother to communicate with, but can’t quite tune in. So many distractions in the vastness of space. The child is desperate for a mother’s love. The mother thinks the child has hidden itself deliberately as a show of independence. The mother doesn’t realize that she is needed. The child has been too childish. It has been behaving so badly as to make itself go extinct faster than it needed to. A mother outliving a child is sad, but that’s how it goes. Mom wins after all…living long enough to see the tragedy of many children.
This is a self-released tour-only LP/CD from your friends at Children Of Hoof Music Library. While Deerhoof remains a proud Joyful Noise artist, they got the label’s blessing to try a self-released album for the first time. Physical copies will be available only at the Deerhoof merch table, with a limited number of copies available for mailorder from the Joyful Noise warehouse. This is the digital version, only available here. Divine Schism will not be on streaming services….”
The album is released on October 2nd, more via their Bandcamp page
