More sad news just in, seems Colin Jerwood, Colin from Conflict (as everyone seem to know him), has left us; “It is with a very heavy heart to announce Colin passed away after a short illness. We know for his supporters that this is difficult news to hear.  We appreciate that many of you might want to share your condolences. We have set up this online memorial page that you can contribute to. You can also donate to charities in his memory.  Colin’s family meant the world to him and he would want their wishes to be respected. We kindly request that you do not attend his funeral. His family will be reading through any comments on the memorial page and your presence will be felt. We appreciate all your support for Colin and Conflict over the years. In solidarity, James and Georgia Jerwood” (via Conflict’s social media)

Message from the band: “As you can imagine we are struggling to find the words to describe how sad and upset we feel upon hearing of the loss of our band member and dear friend Colin. We extend our deepest condolences to James, Georgia and the rest of Colin’s family and friends.  We ask that you respect their wishes and understand that we are all currently grieving a great loss. Thank you. Gav, Fi, Fran and Matt”.

And this, one of many tributes appearing on live from those involved in the scene that Conflict were a big big part of:  “Absolutely shocked and saddened to hear the news about Colin’s passing. We go back a long way and shared many a tour together back in the early eighties. We were glad to have had the opportunity to meet up with him and the rest of Conflict last September while both playing the same festival. Didn’t realise it would have been the last time ! Our condolences go out to his family and everyone in Conflict. Hope you’re all doing as well as you can in this sad time. Rest in peace Colin. Love and respect . You left us way too early.  Lance, Dan, Fish and Daffy. Icons of Filth”.

What can we add here? Conflict, have just defiantly been there for what seem like forever, and although we haven’t covered them quite so much in recent years, not since our good friend Paco checked out, they were Organ regulars back in the days of print and squat gigs and the hardcore punk rock networks both of this land and lands beyond. Conflict’s name was never far from a flyer for some benefit or other, Colin really did walk it and yes it did come as a shock today. Colin will be missed, he should be celebrated, he stuck at it and never stopped contributing to a scene and a way of life, he did it in such a committed way.

“You can batter, beat us, even imprison us, yet still you will never ever never defeat us” –  Here’s to you Colin, thanks. Our thoughts are with Colin’s family, friends and band members.

And yeah, we could have found a better photo but Colin will always be remembered as a grainy image in hundreds of oftern very opinionated handmade photocopied fanzines from back there (of which Organ was one)
