Five art things, five more art things happening somewhere around right now (or any moment now). Five art shows to check out in the coming days as we repeat ourselves. We do aim to make this an (almost) weekly round up of recommended art events, five shows, exhibitions or things we rather think might be worth checking out. Mostly London things for that is where we currently operate and explore, and like we said last time, these five recommendations come with no claims that they are “the best five” or the “Top Five”, we’re not one of those annoying art websites that ignore most things whilst claiming to be covering everything and proclaiming this or that to be the “top seven things” or the “best things this weekend”. This Five Things thing is simply a regular list of five or so recommended art things happening now or coming up very soon that we think you might find as interesting as we think we will…
And we surely don’t need to repeat the bit about the editorial here again do we do we? Another week, another Five London Art Things thing and on with all this endless art coverage? Years of it. Actually this week we probably do need an editorial, or a repeat, we won’t though, there’s no time, and we did say that last time, on with it…
And we should add, that entry to these recommended exhibitions and events, unless otherwise stated, is free…

1: Lauren Brown, Host at Hoxton Arches – on now and running until Sunday 8th November – this one is a must see, it looks interesting on line, you need to see the body of work in the flesh to really get it though, Matt Carey-Williams presents the second solo exhibition from the artist, this time in the big space that id the Hoxton Arch – “In this latest body of paintings, Brown explores the uncertain relationships between invitation and expulsion, containment and dissolution, interiority and exteriority. Animated by opposing forces, forms gather and transform across densely worked surfaces, only to resist the boundaries and structures that appear to contain them. Marks accumulate, overlap and interrupt one another, creating arabesques of opposing orders and choreographed chaos. The suggestion of a recognisable body emerges from the paintings’ density and pressure, before dissolving into the surrounding space….”

There is a review of the show already up here on the Organ website, we’re certainly going back for more before it closes, we urge you to do the same – Lauren Brown’s Host at Hoxton Arches, a must see body of paintings, of marks made, of colour engaged with, the intensity involved in just letting those ambiguous layers come at you…
Episode IV: Lauren Brown, Host runs at Hoxton Arches until Sunday 8th November 2026. The space is open Monday to Sunday 11am until 6pm (midday until 5pm on Sunday), theres a late night opening on Thursday 5th Novermber until 8pm. Hoxton Arches is found right outside Hoxton overground railway station (come out, turn to the left, cross the road, big green door). Arch 402 Cremer St, London, E2 8HD.

2: Caitlin Flood-Molyneux – Reclaim at Pure Evil Gallery – Opening night, 6th November (Pure Evil Gallery is another one of those spaces who feel it is all about the opening night and don’t even bother telling us how longs these shows are on for. Hey some of us prefer to avoid opening nights and people standing in the way of the art, give us the rest of the damn details, we’d far rather go on a quiet Friday afternoon!) Right then, got it from the artist’s mouth, it runs until 19th November…
Always good to see new work from Welsh artist Caitlin Flood-Molyneux, there’s a difference to the way Caitlin’s work flows: “We’re so excited to announce Reclaim, a brand new solo exhibition by Caitlin Flood-Molyneux, opening November 6th with us at Pure Evil Gallery, Shoreditch, East London. This is Caitlin’s first solo show since Going Away in Order to Return in 2024, Reclaim is a completely new body of paintings exploring the idea of reclaiming the parts of ourselves that can become defined by fear, loss and everything we’ve been through”.
“Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is a contemporary artist based in South Wales. Their practice explores the relationship between pop culture imagery and the ways in which we attach emotion and memory to images, using mixed-media techniques to express subjective experiences of hardship. Caitlin has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, with work shown at Christie’s and Sotheby’s in London. In 2024, they were shortlisted for the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 and attended the conference in Botswana as a delegate. More recently, they delivered a TED Talk at the Senedd, the Welsh Parliament building, and have been featured in publications including Elle, GQ, and The Financial Times. Alongside a recent collaboration with Seminal which saw their artwork translated onto clothing stocked by Next, Flood-Molyneux was awarded Welsh Visual Artist of the Year by KLAT” Caitlin also featured in a number of Cultivate shows back there before all that, Cultivate been an Organ thing of course, a gallery run as part of Organ, featured on the pages of Organ as well of course.
“Caitlin Flood-Molyneux’s work is both deeply personal and universally resonant, charting key moments from their life through bold imagery and vibrant colour. The resulting body of work forms a private yet enigmatic visual narrative, inviting viewers to forge their own emotional connections and interpretations. Caitlin is busy creating new work in the studio right now, and we can’t wait to share more with you…” so said someone from Pure Evil Gallery…
Pure Evil Gallery is at 108 Leonard Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 4XS. Opening night is 6th November 2026, 6-9pm. The show then runs until 19th Nvember. The exhibition is curated by Carys Worsdale; “Everyone is welcome. Come and join in the celebration. Link in bio to reserve your ticket for the opening” well here’s that link
And we have meantioned Open Return last time, we make no apolgies for doing so again, it goes on until November 15th..

3: Open Return at Terrace Gallery – An exhibition already open, the show runs until Sunday 15th November – Another artist-led group show at the modest gallery by Haggerston railway station, North East London, once again with a number of London’s artists who have featured on these pages; “Open Return, curated by Christina Niederberger, Emma lilly and Lucy Jagger, brings together 16 artists whose work connects with ideas of repetition”.
“Just as we can never return to exactly the same place and natural repetition leads to evolution, so repetition inevitably produces difference or change. Repeated forms or actions generate innovation, upend predictability and reshape meaning”.
“The paintings collected here use various kinds of repetition – playful formal exploration, attitude of obsessive return, a means of operating in the space of not-knowing, a response to digital reiteration – to create and destabilise pictorial logic, to play with ideas of space and time, echo and return, the space between geometry and gesture, constraint and expression, and object and image. This show sees iterative making as resisting predictability rather than reinforcing it, making it a dynamic and generative force in contemporary painting”.
There is now a review or coverage or whatever you want to call it up here on the Organ website – Open Return at East London’s Terrace Gallery, we always need paintings and painters and places to show those paintings, places to return to, the art of repetition…
Terrace Gallery is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 12-6pm, opening night Thursday 29th October (6-8.30pm), the show then runs until Sunday 15th November. Terrace Gallery is hidden down the alley beneath the train line by the railway bridge at 4 Frederick Terrace, Haggerston, Hackney, London E8 4EW. Find it just a short walk from Haggerston Overground station.

4: Artists Support. Asking for a Friend at Arcadia Missa – The show runs from 6th November until 19th December 2026 (with an opening, 6pm until 8pm on Thursday 5th November0 and well it is an interesting idea, a beautiful idea maybe, although most artists we know are struggling to support themselves at the moment (and we are constantly asked to give away art to support this that or the other cause although this is a bit more, way more, than just that…) and anyway, Kembra Pfahler is taking part so that us curiously recommending it (or at least, with our artists hats on, supporting it…)
“In the first-floor gallery space, Artists Support presents ‘Asking for a Friend’, a group exhibition hosted by Arcadia Missa, including works by Alvaro Barrington, Sanya Kantarovsky, Rene Matić, Kembra Pfahler, The PLPC, Orfeo Tagiuri and Tegen Williams. Each artist’s work will be sold to help out one of their friends – in some cases by contributing to the nominated friend’s medical care, in others by simply offering support…”
Arcadia Missa is found at 35 Duke Street, Soho, London, W1U 1LH. The space is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am until 6pm
There is also a Coumba Samba exhibition called Big Nation opening this week and running for the same period of time as the above mentioned Asking For A Friend at the same Arcadia Missa space;
“Coumba Samba’s solo exhibition ‘Big Nation’ comprises a new series of paintings based on chevron patterns commonly found on the backs of police vehicles. Continuing her ongoing exploration of global power structured, Samba considers how historical structures of domination persist in localised forms of oppression.

5: Johanna Melvin, Recent Paintings at Pictorem Gallery London E17 – On now and until November 27th 2026 – Following on from that recent show that Johanna curated at E8’s Terrace gALLERY – What has East London to offer? Not much at Soft Opening, rather a lot at Terrace Gallery, on with it all… a solo show over in E17…
“Paintings are encountered differently in the physical world than through the screens that increasingly mediate our experience of images. Their surfaces, scale and material presence register the movement of the hand, making gesture tangible in ways that digital reproduction cannot fully convey. This solo exhibition brings together two strands of recent work from my Highams Park studio, both exploring the tension between spontaneous mark-making and hard-edged structure, while reflecting on the shifting relationship between painting and digital communication”.
Pictorem Gallery is at 383 Hoe St, London E17 9AP The show runs until November 27th 2026. Gallery opening times: 10 am – 5 pm Tuesday through to Saturday, “and I can meet by appointment – please send me a DM to arrange” said Johanna via her Instagram page. (Please note the gallery will be closed on Sat Nov 7th)

Here’s what we made of the last one at the same giant space – ORGAN THING: Beyond The Streets London at Saatchi Gallery, is it as important as it thinks it is? Is it a must see exhibition?

Empty / No.30 Project a solo performance and Installation by Tadashi Watanabe at Art Hub Studios, Deptford, Thursday, 5th November 2026, 7pm until 8.30pm – this one could be interesting, not so much a recommendation as something to be curious about:
“What does it mean to exist? What does it mean to let go? Japanese performance artist Tadashi Watanabe presents Empty / No.30 Project, a solo performance and installation in London. Through the encounter between the body, space, time, and unpredictable circumstances, the artist explores the essence of existence, transformation, and letting go. The performance is not predetermined. It emerges in the present moment, transforming the space through the act of being alive. Empty is not simply the absence of something. It is a continuous process of living, questioning, and surrendering. Experience a moment that will never exist again”.
Art Hub Studios, Mornington Centre, Deptford, London, SE8 4BL, Thursday, 5th November 2026, 7pm until 8.30pm entry in free, “all are welcome” – www.instagram.com/tadashiwatanabe / www.instagram.com/arthublondon
That’s us done for this week or at least for this page….
