Charles Hayward
Our friends at Cafe Oto, North London’s rather unique, rather vital left-field music venue, like a lot small music venues, galleries and those more concerned with the actual art than the profit, are having a rather tough time of it right now, they need your help.
“Hi there, We have made the decision to close our doors for all upcoming evening shows until further notice. This is obviously a very difficult decision for us to make, and leaves us in a particularly precarious financial position, but given the current circumstances, we want to make sure that we aren’t putting anybody at unnecessary risk of infection. As a small grassroots venue, these are incredibly challenging times for us. We understand this is a difficult situation for everybody, and we will of course offer refunds for any postponed or cancelled show. However, for anybody who feels that they are able to, we would be extremely grateful to those who might consider donating the cost of their ticket to the venue in order to help see us through the coming weeks and months. We are working hard to reschedule as many of the affected shows as we possibly can and will contact all ticketholders as soon as we have more information on each event. In the meantime, we’re very pleased to say that we’ll be live-streaming the scheduled shows in the venue (just minus audience!) for the next few nights directly from our website. We’re currently assembling a line-up of artists for future live-streamed shows and hope to be broadcasting as many evenings as we can over the next few weeks.
Tonight’s show, tonight being Thursday March 19th, see a live stream featuringThis Heat’s Charles Hayward….
“For our fourth fundraiser night, the great drummer, singer, composer and founding member of This Heat, Charles Hayward performs a rare solo set; O Yama O’s Rie Nakajima and Keiko Yamamoto are joined by violinist Billy Steiger and percussionist Marie Roux in entrancing deconstructions of Japanese folk music; and we welcome back Merlin Nova, who collages voice, synthesizer, violin, field recording and other instruments into an intoxicating music that encompasses abrasion and reverie and everything in between.
