Mr Sterile Assembly, that legendary two piece experimental noise band, actually, are they an experimental noise band or a rather healthy pop band? Who or whatever the New Zealand band are, they say they just released an NFT – “a super limited amount of handmade, recycled, sterile-sweatshopped cassettes. Each unique in it’s own wonky way, dirty finger prints and all, a genuine, real world NFT! Just a Normal Flipping Tape!!” – well they didn’t say flipping but don’t use bad flipping language around these fractured parts.
You may well have heard the new release from Mr Sterile Assemble exclusively revealed or premiered (or whatever you call it) on last Sunday’s Other Rock Show, if you missed the show then here it is, something like the third track in but hey, we think you should lsiten to the whole show…
.
The release and the tracks are now up on good old Bandcamp, here it is…

Run Peter Run is actually about something everyone should know about, Australia athlete Peter Norman, who finished second at the Olympics in 1968, second to Tommie Smith and just ahead of John Carlos, in that race that became infamous for the Black Power salute on the dais during the medal ceremony for their success in the 200 metre sprint.
The story of what happened to Peter Norman after he stood there for the medal ceremony isn’t so well know. The band have a blog about it here. “Prior to the ceremony Norman became aware of the action and offered both encouragement and support. The photo of that action has become iconic. However Norman willingness to stand beside these two earned the ire of authorities back home. 40 years pasted before the government offered a posthumous apology to Norman for the treatment he received for standing in ally-ship with Carlos and Smith in the fight for justice”.
