“interesting news” this morning, or maybe it was last night? Time is blurring, days and night look the same. the “interesting news” is for once genuinely interesting and that last show at Cafe Oto with Honey Ride Me A Goat opening was rather special and well Upsilon Acrux have been the Other Rock Show hose band for many a year so, here’s Paul Lai’s “interesting news”…
“So here’s the more interesting news.. We’re back!! Day one of the cycle just ended. So the cycle is, write songs, practice, play local shows, get songs to real, record, complain, record some more, mix, put out record, tour further than last time, last call, go back to normal life. Last time this cycle started Jan 2010 and took us around the States, Mexico, Canada, then to Europe everywhere and ended at Cafe Oto in London in October 2016, hopefully we can go further this time. I honestly thought that was our last show ever… I moved to Taiwan, Patrick Shiroishi became the most important improviser in LA, Mark and Patrick started Oort Smog, Dylan and Noah are in Meatbodies and Dylan is also in Best Coast and doing improv and music for David Choe, everyone is spread out and creative, but now I’m back and we are ready for new Upsilon music and we will only be making and playing new music for the foreseeable time. And with Hella back, Luttenbachers back as well as Child Abuse w/ Yowie returning soon it seems the major bands of the brutal prog era are all returning from the dead, non of us will be djing ur work retreat soon or ever but the future looks promising for new music. So the other question is probably who’s in this version?? Every single person from the last version which is actually a first for us and for once we can build on what we had while destroying what we had all at once. see u guys semi-soon”.
