Still no time for editorials, repeat, replete, reheat, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing as last time once again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently, five slices of music cherry picked for your delight and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of bird seed and…
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying swordfish out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Cake oil? Snake oil? Bake the oil, everything must go somewhere and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading and who reads editorials?
When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing, we never should have done and like we asked last time, who are the cake? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery.

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in Lawrence, Kansas…
1: Sweeping Promises and another spiky piece of their short sharp proper pop music. another slice of the album You Say I Romanticize, an album that’s out, as we already said a couple of days back when we brought you a first taste (and a second taste, this makes for a third bite), on August 14th, 2026 on Sub Pop. They’re from Lawrence, Kansas but you probably knew that already and if you didn’t then we already said that as well already (a couple of times now). 2: Roxanne de Bastion and a shock to the system, a spine-tingling chill, come get an upgrade, come play along, here’s her website and that video is something new, there was a press release around here somewhere, lost in all the virtual junbk on the floor now but hey, you’ve got the film, you’ve got the piece od music, you’ve got the link to her website, what more could you possibly need from us?
3: Fathom Codex – “The first new musical collaboration from Dazzling Killmen’s Nick Sakes and Blake Fleming in more than 30 years” so shouts a shouter over on Bandcamp. “Conceived in October 2024 and completed this year, Fathom Codex became the unexpected catalyst for the reformation of Dazzling Killmen, while sounding nothing like the band itself” except with that voice and that phrasing they kind of do. “Blending African rhythms, psychedelia, dub, hip-hop, spoken word, and the singular musical voices of Sakes and Fleming, Fathom Codex creates a sound that is both compellingly visceral and darkly seductive”.

4: Tombouctou – We watch a replay par Tombouctou – Concert au Cirque Electrique du 27/06/2026, organisé pour l’anniversaire des 15 ans de En Veux-tu ? En V’Là. Not heard much since the French band’s excellent 2023 album, this live footage did just appear to remind us how good they are though, is this something new?
