Organ Thing of The Day?

That’s Aaron Roche up there, and here’s his latest rather impressive album…..

Rather beautifully different Brooklyn-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Roche offers us, according to the press release we’re going to blatantly quote here, “contrasting narratives: a singer-songwriter with an ear for the avant-garde; a contemporary composer who sings American folk music; an instrumentalist who works as a recording engineer”.

Aaron, so says the press release, “will be touring in March and April and will cross Germany, UK, France, Italy, CZ, Austria, Benelux, Portugal and Spain.

Aaron Roche released his latest album HaHa HuHu in september 2017 via figureight Records (label founded by Shahzad Ismaily, has recorded or performed with Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Jolie Holland, Laura Veirs, Bonnie Prince Billy, Faun Fables, Secret Chiefs 3, John Zorn, Elysian Fields and many more), in a beautiful all white LP design. The album reveals a songwriter both mature and confident, drawn to lo-fi and droning textures, to nonstandard song-crafting, to acutely personal observation.

Aaron’s musical CV offers some insight into his craft. He performs (guitar) in the touring bands of musicians as diverse as R. Stevie Moore, Lower Dens, Sufjan Stevens and Anohni, he has composed music for the American Ballet Theatre, he has played trumpet with his father’s brass ensemble. Though filtered through his strange and singular lens, all these elements of sound help illuminate the musician and his vision”.
