It started off a red day, things went purple, always controlled though, recycled, words you’ve no doubt read before, or maybe not? Now if it wasn’t for this and that it really would be some kind of hellish helldog helldriver bad beekeeper of a place to be, and for what it be worth, here’s another five corner cutting rides in our oil-soaked ’55 Chevy, jump in, no beekeeping here, we’ll throw it at you quickly then I’m off to paint myself into another corner.  Five musical things once again, five slices of music that have been buzzing in in our ears and on our minds in the last couple of days. Five slices, a bunch of links, do go hit the links and go make your own minds up, contact, go switch the other, go explore, go get involved we’re just here to point the way – don’t let this thing blow over, we’ve done with undercover, not sure how many more times I shall do this – like we’ve said so many times over far too many years, our reviews and thoughts are mere signposts designed to guide you to the things you might like to feast on yourselves… don’t you just love the instant way this web thing works when things fall right and the doors flip open and the touch of a key. Five then, in no particular order…

1: Mr. E.V – Post future? Grab yourself a  map, work it out, that Siren Wailing  Distantly sounds menacing, it sounds locked on, foreboding, it sounds like who ever made this is having a blast in their own menacing thrashing kind of way, do love that distant siren, Not thrashing in a metallic kind of way,  no four walls of a madhouse here, this more like something wicked this way comes, thrashing like an old diesel train engine getting up to ramming speed, like they’re ready to deliver the killing joke, like some Rothkoesque set of sparse yet dense waves of colour. hey look, you don’t need words no more, no more typos spelling mistakes and sounds like it was more of a necessity than an indulgence, like that guitar needed to be thrashed, like there wasn’t really any other option, don’t be just diving it a minute before hitting the next button and moving on, play it loud, leave running on repeat for a day, let it get to you….

2: ENABLERS are from Oakland, California, Enablers are up to new things, that of course is always a very very (very) good thing, Pigeon Diaries, here it is, we’ll eave you to go explore and find out what they’re actually doing, Today broke sunny and clear. The kind of breezy, warm day that hints at Spring; gets you opening windows and wiping the dust off shelves and bookcases. I swept then mopped the kitchen floor, working up a sweat as I went, then took my seat at the window. They broke into a relief of the Midtown skyline, and they were that rare dance and flash. The sunlight bouncing off and absorbing their feathers like little Chinese hand fans wavering in the drafts above the building tops.  I couldn’t be the only set of eyes on them, but it often seems that way….

3: ESBEN AND THE WITCH are up to new things as well, here’, the music, you just passed the link, their ritualistic goodness always rewards…

More Sloppy Jane?

4: SLOPPY JANE, not caught up with New York’s Sloppy Jane for over a year now, almost missed this from a few months back, someone or something brought up Mindy and Sloppy Jane and well, here, some catch up, – “a strip club, a sitcom, a playground, and a house of God”  Our debut record, “Willow” tells the story of a great adventure. Willow is a girl, who existed inside of a strip club in Inglewood, who ran away to the desert to hustle pool with a lion, and who burned herself alive for my freedom. She was buried at sea alongside her best friend. This piece is dedicated to their sacrifice and to their memory(and to Ember Knight). The record is a work of nonfiction, and if consumed correctly will take the listener through a journey. Please put on your tallest shoes, your air conditioner, and lie on the floor. Pick a position, and don’t move one muscle the whole time, even if it’s scary. Or funny. Or feels like it’s been too long. Listen alone. Or while driving through the Mojave in the middle of the night with someone who understands. Recorded and engineered by my hero, Joel Jerome, in Los Angeles. All drums and many essential guitar moments by my son and brother, Sara Cath, who nothing would have been possible without. Love, Haley Dahl.

5: TRIP LAVA – “Hello! My name is Joel Lee and I have an instrumental avant/space prog project called Trip Lava. I have been reviewed in Organ before (Octatroid-way back in 2011) and I did contact you recently about submitting my new stuff for a possible review. So here it is, the new Trip Lava album entitled “OUNDS” I hope you dig it! Here’s the Bandcamp link…

Well now, do you really need a review? You have ears, you have eyes, you have the album right there, you can listen to it, you can go to the Bandcamp page, you buy it as a download and pay whatever you want, you really now need us reviewing it. “Trip Lava (aka Joel Lee) is a one man 4-track recording project started in 2005. Instrumental jams and strange sonic experiments are tied together with sound effects and segues. Sometimes funky, sometimes furious, never commercial sounding” A review? We don’t need reviews, and well heavily flavoured with bits of Tangerine Dream or the various threads of Hawkwind and synth driven space rock and we’ll avoid mentioning the awful artwork and tell you the war food is far far more rewarding than the visuals, the space is deep golden void and that Kraut-driven forward movement and okay, it really isn’t that different or original or ground breaking but it is rather enjoyable and keyed into some kind of spirit of the age somewhere and he does do his chosen thing rather well and make your own mind up, time to get out of here..

And if it should be the very last musical time, then let this be the last thing posted
