Sad news coming our way this evening, Genesis P-Orridge has died following a long illness. Dais Records posted a statement from P-Orridge’s daughters: “Dear friends, family and loving supporters, It is with very heavy hearts that we announce thee passing of our beloved father, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. S/he had been battling leukaemia for two and a half years and dropped her body early this morning, Saturday 14th March, 2020. S/he will be laid to rest with h/er other half, Jacqueline “Lady Jaye” Breyer who left us in 2007, where they will be re-united.”

“In the late 60s, Genesis P-Orridge was a member of COUM Transmissions, a radical art collective based in Hull, England. Following P-Orridge’s move to London with Cosey Fanni Tutti, they were joined by Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson and Chris Carter to create Throbbing Gristle, one of the most significant musical and artistic groups of the 20th century. Following the demise of TG, P-Orridge went on to form Psychic TV and cult/organisation Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth” reported The Quietus this evening.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Genesis a number of times for Organ back in the 80’s and 90’s including one very remarkable encounter at that legendary house on Beck Road, Gen was always fine with us, always appreciated the effort put in to Organ, always had time even though there were some pretty strange things going on around Psychic TV back there.. and yes, Throbbing Gristle, were and are one of the most significant musical and artistic groups of the 20th century.

R.I.P Genesis.
