ORGAN: The legend that is Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has left us…

Sad news today, Jamaican music pioneer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has passed away. He reportedly died on Sunday morning (August 29) at the Noel Holmes Hospital in Western Jamaica after battling illness. Born Rainford Hugh Perry in March 1936, he was 85 years old.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness confirmed his passing. “My deep condolences to the family, friends, and fans of legendary record producer and singer, Rainford Hugh Perry OD, affectionately known as “Lee Scratch” Perry,” Holness wrote in one Tweet this morning. “Undoubtedly, Lee Scratch Perry will always be remembered for his sterling contribution to the music fraternity. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

one of the prime architects in terms of reggae music and a whole lot more in terms of modern music.. We really couldn’t let it pass without a mantion and a nod of massive respect…
