Charles Hayward: Music is Social Space

“Following on from the sell-out show in June, Charles Hayward returns to the Albany.Sound activist and musician Charles Hayward presents an evening of music that pushes at the edges of the new, challenging the already known, questioning frontiers, embracing divergent energies.Radical music for radical times. MUSIC IS SOCIAL SPACE.Following on from the 2 sell out Albany shows last Autumn and this Summer, Charles Hayward presents another night of ear stretching music and sound.Active listening!New project ABSTRACT CONCRETE follows on from Charles’ work with This Heat and Camberwell Now, bringing songs and new sound sensations together in a raging mix that features young players Agathe Max, Otto Willberg, Roberto Sassi and Yoni Silver. Currently recording an album, this will be the group’s first live performance and is not to be missed.ENCOUNTER is a daring combination drawing from diverse ways of working. International improvisers Viv Corringham (vocals, electronics, field recordings) and Alan Wilkinson (saxes and clarinets) meet sound artist Dirch Blewn in a performance asking more questions than answers. This promises to open up new ways of interacting and hearing and is a special performance for this evening.Musician, producer and Slowfoot Records boss Frank Byng will DJ throughout the evening, spinning an eclectic range of music from across space and time, joining up the dots and keeping things moving”.
