Polyhymns have a rather refined new EP called Let Them Be Animals, more of that almost fragile glow from the Sheffield band. We have featured them before, they are relatively new, uncluttered, fresh, simple, crafted, indeed they’re refreshing. They choose to describe themselves as an experimental folk group, I guess that’s a good as anything, they are delightfully difficult to pin down. There’s a pleasing pace to these songs, a spot on sense of warmth in the production, an inviting echo. Down With The Kids feels idyllic whatever they might be singing, there’s just something very simple, something very enjoyable. The three minutes of I Wake up sound like they just might be ready for something Can flavoured from around 1975, some kind of Kraut-driven take off, a hint of things to come maybe? Hear it and find out more via their Bandcamp. We like Polyhymns.
