The editorial bit again again yet again, the introduction and the Five Music Things thing for whatever it is all about. Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Do we need to do the editorial bit again? Is there another way? A cure for pulling cats out of hats? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever? What do reasons make? Five more, everything must go and same as last time (and the time before) five, and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or what gets played on the radio or what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut cut slash and cut to the damn chase, who needs an editorial or words in general? Just facts and links then, here you go, grab your five, eat your greens, go eat some art, go eat some dirt, we’re still still washing off the dust clouds after Nick Cave’s triumph in our local park, now that really was a gig, possibly one of the best ever…
1: UTO are a duo from France, their rather fine debut album just landed here, we haven’t had time for anything more than a quick dip into the delights that a first listen reveals. This is clearly and album that promises lots, they’re Parisian and that piece up there, Délaisse, is gorgeous, there’s some beautiful details in there, lots of crisp electronic delight, all their branches might well bear fruit. The album has just come out, more from us in a day or two when we’ve explore a little more, so far this is rather good. Here’s a link for more if you can’t wait for us to share more… label mate Gasper Claus sounds rather interesting as well. Watch this space, looks like InFiné could be a rather interesting label.
And here’s a little more if you want it, do you want it?
2: Willow Kayne – More from Willow Kayne, I don’t know her well enough to just call her Willow yet. Here’s her latest release is Rat Race, there’s more about her via that link just down there. I don’t have a clue what is going on or where I need to go if I need to run, our paths crossed in Victoria Park a couple of weeks ago and White City has been played pretty much every day since then here in the Organ bunker – Five unexpected things from All Points East – Party Dozen, Willow Kayne, Amrit Kaur, Knucks, The Dinner Party and… – I see she’s back in London at OXYO on September 29th
3: Gaspar Claus – Well we just found Gaspar Claus and indeed Sabrina Bellaouel, when were were checking out UTO’s Paris/Berlin label InFiné. More in a day or two, give us time to unwrap things…
4: Fiona Brice – “This has just been released by my good friend and all round talented musician and writer Fiona Brice. Fiona and I put the video together with footage that Fiona’s female friends and family from all over this wee little planet had sent her. It’s a great piece of music” said mr Paddy McCarthy, he of Miraculous Mule. This is another track from the album And You Know I Care by Fiona Brice, released October 2022 via Bella Union, a previous track from the album was featured a few weeks back – ORGAN: Five music things – Fiona Brice has a new album, David Jackson’s celebratory Theme One, inimitable Irish Alt-Folk artist Junior Brother returns, Andy Clockwise’s new single, new Kill Your Boyfriend and…
And a little more from the always good looking Grave Goods…
5: Grave Goods – Another new track, Die is from the new album Tuesday Nothing Exists. The album is out this Friday September 9th via Tulle. Video by Lois Macdonald, cinematographer – Georgiana Ghetiu, costume by Lois Macdonald, these things should be mentioned.
“Featuring members of Pins, Girls Names and September Girls, Sartre-rock trio GRAVE GOODS are based between Manchester, Belfast and Dublin. Taking influence from early post-punk and minimalist rock, Grave Goods’ music has been described as urgent and demanding, claustrophobic yet spacious – guaranteed to grab your attention”. We have featured then a number of times now, you can find several of the tracks and the album details via Bandcamp
And while we’re here, a classic from back there….
