The editorial bit again and again, like some sort of crazed Sushi Addict, of course it was Sushi and here comes the introduction that heralds the latest Five Music Things thing and whatever the hell the five music thing is actually all about. Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Do we need to do the editorial bit again? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling cats out of hats? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more, everything must go and same as last time (and the time before) five, and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or what gets played on the radio or what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut cut slash and cut to the damn chase, who needs an editorial or words or worms in general? Just facts and links then, here you go, play the music, grab your five, eat your greens, go eat some art, go eat some dirt and don’t forget the yellow trousers.
Here we go, five (or so) more musical things in no particular order…
1: Commoners Choir – Here we go, five (or so) more musical things in no particular order, well no, that’s what we usually say at the top of these five musical things pages, but this time there is very definitely a number one. This is something from a couple of years ago now but like many of the always excellent Commoners Choir‘s glorious songs it is rather nail hit firmly right there on the head right now. ORGAN THING: “We’re all citizens of the world…” There can never be too much from the Commoners Choir…

We could have posted any of their many songs, here’s another one, this one is from three weeks ago. Enough is Enough is a campaign to fight the cost of living crisis. It has five demands to tackle the crisis: 1. A Real Pay Rise 2. Slash Energy Bills 3. End Food Poverty 4. Decent Homes for All 5. Tax the Rich, none of which are on the Tory’s everyone-for-themselves and if you’re poor it really is all your own fault wavelenght. The Campaign was founded by Trade Unions and community organisations determine to push back against the misery forced on millions by rising bills, low wages, food poverty, shoddy housing – and a society only run for a wealthy elite. We can’t rely on the establishment to solve our problems. It’s up to us in every workplace and every community.

2: Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs have just revealed footage of them playing a brand new track called “Terror’s Pillow“ live in their spiritual home of Blank Studios. The Seven, as no one ever calls them, have just announced a substancial batch of tour dates for Spring next year. Can’t be thinking about next year yet though, I mena, ‘c’mon, that’s at least three Prime Ministers away, the dates are on their website
.
2 and a bit Ghost Car – We did mention this one a couple of day ago, but it did get mentioned in the editorial that you never read so hey, here it is again. Right now we ca’nt have enough Ghost Car, if you want to know more then here’s the piece from a couple of dayd back – ORGAN THING: Ghost Car do it again and we’ll eat it again, we’ll eat it again, eat it again. Another single, Sushi Addict, thrilliant! Truly trashy…
.
3: Ming City Rockers – “First Single from our upcoming album ‘LIME’ out Jan 26th x”, and that’s all they said about Jill The Anarchist. That;s enough, let the music do the talking, you don’t need too many of our words today.
.
4: Child Bite – Detroit, Michigan’s Child Bite have a new music video – “Our delirious future awaits, as society’s crotch drips toward the great beige unknown…” is what they said “Erect for Dystopia” is from the Multicult/Child Bite split EP, available via Hex Records. We pull these things out of the hundreds that come our way everyweek.

5: Wipes have a new album out at the start of November – We’re told Wipes are a new band from the Allentown/Bethlehem, PA area over there in the USA, is there some Huge Baby in their Pixies darkness? We’re told that although they are a new band, they might well be quite familiar and that might be because the band started as almost an off-shoot of Tile, a band who have been blasting eardrums for well over 10 years. When Tile’s guitarist began taking on more adult responsibilities and had less time to devote to the band remaining members Ray Gurz (bass, vocals) and Michael Dumoff (drums) began jamming with guitarist Matt Molchany, who had already been a long time friend and fan of the band. In fact, he was responsible for recording and engineering both of Tile’s full length albums. Thus “Wipes was born and began writing music at a furious pace”.. Pretty soon the band demo’ed a few songs, putting up one on their bandcamp page just to give people an idea of what was going on. Not long after the band did a very limited lathe cut 7” on Limited Appeal Records with two more tracks showcasing what they were up to. During the Winter of 2021-2022 Wipes recorded their debut full length, “Making Friends”. AND now that debut album is ready to be released. “Prepare for more of the familiar noise served up by Tile- heavy sludgy noise rock aggression, but with odd melodies and harmonies recalling everything from Nirvana to The Pixies, or Drug Church. It’s a blast to listen to”.

And while we’re here, this only just passed or way, we’ve still got that magic in Victoria PArk at te end of the summer fuelling us – ORGAN THING: Idles take the park, London’s burning in the best possible way, the first day of All Points East is a triumph… This footage was also posted this summer and well, just how good is this! This is the sound of a band commiting to lots lots more than just fifteen minutes…
.
And, almost missed last month’s mash up, kind of fun, we need a bit of fun now and again…
